About Us

Food Pantry of Wasilla

FOOD PANTRY OF WASILLAThe Food Pantry of Wasilla was founded in 1989 as a ministry of Good Shepherd Lutheran
Church in Wasilla to provide emergency food to people in our community. In 1992, we became a member of the Valley Christian Conference and organized under the guidance of a board of directors. On March 24, 1994 we became registered as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

In October 2005 the Food Pantry of Wasilla expanded to include The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) in its distribution. As a result, there are now food distributions we handle:

  • a community based donation program
  • the federal TEFAP program, a USDA program (learn more).

MatSu Food Bank
